Glowing first review of #uppingyourgame!

First (5-star!) review of #uppingyourgame: a practical guide to personal productivity on the Kindle store:

I have a very busy life and am always on the lookout for ways of improving productivity; both to enable me to be more productive at work and the by product of being able to spend more time with my family. My rss reader has the usual array of lifehacker-type feeds and I enjoy implementing new technologies into my day to day life. This book explains the meaning of productivity and motivation before leading you through a variety of tools that you can readily implement. Doug describes in his “getting on & doing” chapter not just productivity enhancers, but also productivity killers and what to do in times of adversity. I found a number of tools that I already use in my day to day life and work in the Productivity 2.0 chapter, but there were some new ones that have already made into my life. “Helping make others more productive” was particularly thought provoking for me; this is always inherently challenging. This is a well-written and accessible guide that will have a practical positive impact on your life. (Steve Margetts)

Last week I launched my first paid-for eBook. I’ve been working on #uppingyourgame: a practical guide to personal productivity since the beginning of the year, with almost 50 people buying into the book before it was even published thanks to the OpenBeta process!

Now that’s it’s finished I’ve made it available at the following very reasonable prices in these formats:

£6.99 Kindle format (no images) Buy now with 1-Click

Weeknote #21

This week I have been mostly…

Delivering on projects

I launched two new things yesterday:

Finding out more about mobile learning

Wednesday was a 17.5 hour working day for me, but worth it! I was down in London for the MoLeNET conference and awards ceremony because of the JISC mobile & wireless technologies review I’m currently undertaking.

Such enthusiasm! Such transformational projects and learning experiences! Awesome.

Playing around with video

After reading about the importance of online video for, well, everything, I thought it was time I played around with it a bit more. Hence:

Looking after my son

I’ve been looking after Ben for the last three Fridays as my Mam is currently visiting my Dad in the United Arab Emirates. (Happy 61st Birthday Dad!) For the first two of these that meant dropping him off and picking him up from school nursery then spending the afternoon together. However, he was running a temperature yesterday, so didn’t go in and wasn’t up to doing much active stuff apart from the inevitable ‘Calpol half-hour’ after taking some medicine…

Weeknote #17

This week I have been mostly…

Recovering from a migraine

I know that my migraines are caused by stress, atmospheric pressure, dehydration, blood sugar and (chiefly) the food colouring Annatto. A combination of these factors, especially when it’s overcast, precipitates a migraine for me. I had one on Tuesday evening so had to take Wednesday off work to recover. Horrible.

Working on my Ed.D. thesis

I wrote 5,000 words of the Pragmatic methodology section of my Ed.D. thesis on Bank Holiday Monday. I’m using Scrivener now, so changes aren’t reflected at dougbelshaw.com/thesis (yet!)

Finishing #uppingyourgame

I’ve been working on a productivity-focused ebook called #uppingyourgame since the start of the year, using the OpenBeta method I devised. It’s now finished and has been sent to the 49 people who bought into the book whilst it was being written.

Everyone else will be able to purchase it from October 1st when feedback has been received and preparations made!
