The demographic of Facebook is predominantly people in their late 20s/early 30s. One has to wonder what we’ll be discussing and how we’ll be interacting in, say 30-40 years’ time. Have a look at the image above. It made me chuckle. Original here on Flickr. 🙂
The idea behind this cartoon so neatly encapsulates some of the frustration I feel sometimes that I wanted to keep this cartoon for future reference. So though I might as well share it here:
Although I enjoy geeky things, I’m always a bit wary about admitting to the fact. Lolcats being a case in point: cute pictures of cats with witty txt/geek-speak captions. However, now that they’ve gone mainstream courtesy of an article in TIME magazine, it’s OK. If you’ve no idea what I’m talking about, check out the Wikipedia article and icanhascheezburger.com. Powerpoint is, or at least can be, a wonderful tool. I use it all the time in my teaching. However, it seems to bring out the worst in people. I’m sure I’m not the only person to have physically cringed when those-who-should-know-better have thrown up a slide and then proceeded to just read from the screen. I can read, thank you very much.
