Weeknote 07/2013
This week I’ve been:
- Writing about helping my son learn Web concepts.
- Visiting the University of Salford and talking about a potential city-wide badged system of learning pathways. Exciting!
- Making arrangements for next week when I’ll be in London.
- Talking to people about speaking at conferences. This happens every week so I should just make it a standing item…
- Arranging an Open Badges workshop with the BBC at Salford MediaCity.
- Writing a DMLcentral blog post that should be published on Monday.
- Organising a repeat Web Literacy standard kick-off online gathering (as many people said they couldn’t make it last time)
- Starting a ‘library’ of Web Literacy resources on the Mozilla wiki.
- Writing about why simply reading books in front of kids isn’t enough.
- Attending T2S4: A flurry of cursors: Digital Collaborative Writing as part of #etmooc- until Blackboard Collaborate crashed!
- Writing about ‘rigour’ in relation to new literacies.
- Interviewed about #BelshawBlackOps by Claire Suddath from Bloomberg Businessweek.
- Starting to plan the ‘arc’ of work around the Web Literacy standard after a conversation with colleagues.
- Finishing my slides for T3S1: Digital Literacies with Dr. Doug Belshaw, an #etmooc session I’m leading on Monday at 8pm GMT
Next week I’m taking Monday as ‘Paid Time Off’ (PTO) – as they call it in North America. It’s President’s Day in the US and a national holiday and, over here, the first day of half-term for my son. I’ll be in London on Thursday and Friday as I’m speaking at the University of West London and meeting with Kate Stokes from Nesta to finalise our SXSWedu presentation.
