Top Firefox 2 extensions for educators?
Jeff Utecht asks what the 5 best Firefox 2 add-ons for educators are currently. His list reads:
- Del.icio.us (bookmarks)
- Zotero (research tool)
- Googlepedia (shows related Wikipedia articles when searching Google)
Others, in the comments section, have added, amongst others:
- Performancing (post to blogs from anywhere)
- Permatabs (makes some tabs ‘sticky’)
- Diigo
I think the following should be added:
- Google Reader (updates to RSS feeds)
- Tab Mix Plus (adds functionality to tabbed browsing)
- VideoDownloader (allows downloading of video from streaming sites)
- PDF Download (gives choice of whether to download, open, or ignore PDF links)
- GMail Manager (email notifer)
- Colorful Tabs (makes each tab a different colour)
Of course, tweaking ones browser is quite personal thing – it all depends upon what you want to do! For the full range of add-ons/extensions, visit Firefox Add-Ons.
Thanks for adding your favorite extensions. I'm having a hard time narrowing it down to the 5 I'm going to create screencasts on. Maybe I'll create a poll and allow everyone to vote.
Thanks again for your input!
