• What’s your current daily workday routine?

    5.50am Get up (Lumie Bodyclock + iPhone alarm)

    6am Breakfast with my son, Ben

    6.30am Look after my daughter (Grace) and Ben

    7am Leave for work in trusty Ford Puma (Ben waves from bedroom window)

    7.20am Park car, get on train. Read Kindle whilst listening to music (Spotify/Last.fm)

    7.40am Arrive at Newcastle train station. Walk to work.

    7.50am Arrive at work. Make coffee, setup things on desk.

    8.00am Research and analyse (I’m Researcher/Analyst at JISC infoNet)

    12.00pm Lunchtime. Head to Newcastle City Library.

    12.10pm Work on Ed.D. thesis at the library

    1.30pm Return to work, sit on beanbags with MacBook to do more creative elements of my job.

    5.00pm Walk to train station.

    5.15pm Catch train home listening to podcasts (esp. In Our Time and Freakonomics Radio)

    5.35pm Get in car and drive home.

    6pm Have dinner with family.

    6.30pm Bath Ben and read stories whilst my wife (Hannah) baths Grace.

    7.15pm Talk to Hannah.

    8pm Go for run.

    8.30pm Go in shower. Cold as possible. Alternate this with weights.

    9pm Do home stuff (bills, boring stuff, etc.)

    9.30pm Play Battlefield: Bad Company 2 on PS3

    10pm Prepare Grace’s bottle

    10.30pm Feed Grace with bottle of milk

    11pm Read

    11.30pm Bedtime

      In tired just looking makes me glad my kdis out of the baby stage (still miss it though sad as I am cos now they answer you back!!!!) my day depends tues to thurs im a phd student in my office proper rest of week im mum/wife/phd student. My day always starts @ 7am get up to keep oldest (13) company while shes sorting herself for school7.30 am get other 2 up 8.00 am sort fights over tv 9.00 am say bye to them in school and go get bus (do some reading on bus)9.45 am get train to uni (tues to thurs)10.15 am in uni work read work etc grab lunch4.50pm head home -> train then wait ages on stupid bus6.15pm dinner then time with kdis – homework, watch disney channel/nickleodeon or their fave programmes, read a bit before bed with youngest (6) 9.00pm pack kids to bed (lights out 9.45 latest) oldest gets 15 mins more) gives me at least 3 hours work time then sleep On a monday I teach computing in my kids school to one of the classes and work at home all day. Friday is shopping day then work at home. Dont know how you fit it all in Doug with the wee ones I find this tough and im only doing study/family life. :)
