This week I’ve spent three enjoyable days at the ePIC 2012 ePortfolio & Identity Conference. Serge Ravet, the convener, kindly allowed there to be a whole track to dedicated to Open Badges. Happy days.
I spoke about the link between e-portfolios and Open Badges in the opening plenary session (slides below), helped Carla Casilli run a couple of workshops and a ‘clinique’, and basically talked about Open Badges to anyone who’d listen to me.
There seems to be a real groundswell of interest and enthusiasm around Open Badges from the e-portfolios community. This is due, I think, to it potentially being the ‘missing link’ that answers the ‘so what?’ question about e-porfolios. Badges as rocket fuel!
One thing I must do is revisit the Open Badges FAQ to ensure it still answers some of the most common questions we’re getting now that work around badges is progressing.
