CITE Southampton Digital Literacy Conference (#sotondiglit)

I’ve been down in Southampton today for a digital literacy conference organised at the University of Southampton. I was asked to collaborate with Sue Beckingham (@suebecks) on one of two ‘un-keynote’ presentations. Our presentation can be found below.
The opening ‘un-keynote’ was provided by Steve Wheeler (@timbuckteeth) and Cristina Costa (@cristinacost) who got us all up, moving about, and throwing paper at each other! All good fun and a great way to break the ice and get everyone warmed-up.
After a coffee break there were short (5-10 minute) presentations before lunch, and then Sue and I gave our un-keynote. We got people taking the eight essential elements of digital literacies I’ve discussed before and creating activities by mashing two or three of them together. It seemed to go down well.
I may feel a bit like a carbon criminal, but thank goodness for air travel: around one hour to fly but over six hours on the train! And given current crazy train prices (the UK has the highest in Europe) it costs about the same. Crazy.
Thanks for coming to Southampton Doug, it was a brilliant day and the feedback I have had has been that it was a ‘really useful and energising conference’. So thanks again!
Great – thanks again for the invitation!

Sounds like a great event Doug. Do you have any plans to do anything similar in the near future? I really enjoyed the slides.
