This is a blog written by me, Doug Belshaw. I encourage clearer thinking around educationtechnology and productivity.

First and foremost I’m husband to a wonderful wife and and proud father to a young son and daughter. Their wellbeing and happiness comes before anything else I do.

In 2012 I became Dr Belshaw having successfully defended my doctoral thesis on What is digital literacy? A Pragmatic investigation at Durham University. This is publicly accessible online. Prior to this I completed an MA in Modern History and PGCE in Secondary History, also at Durham. My BA (Hons) Philosophy was obtained by spending three happy years at the University of Sheffield (where I met my wife).

My day job is currently at JISC infoNet as a Researcher/Analyst where my three main research areas are:

  • Digital Literacies
  • Open Educational Resources
  • Mobile Learning

In mid-2011 I set up a part-time educational consultancy called Synechism for interesting projects people and organisations sometime ask me to work upon.

Before moving into further and higher education I was a Senior Leader and Teacher of History and ICT in schools first in the Midlands (my place of birth) and then North East of England (where I was raised and have subsequently returned to live). You can view my full educational and employment history at LinkedIn or more colourfully at my Visual Resumé.

I greatly value the networks of which I’m part, so please do connect with me via my profile page (which also has an ‘Email me’ button to get in touch!)
