Weeknote 02/2018
This week I’ve been:
- Finalising the look and feel of Thought Shrapnel Live! I think it’s looking great, and thanks again to Bryan Mathers for his help and expertise. I’ll be posting there a few times every day, and then collecting the best links to feature in my weekly newsletter.
- Meeting with Samuel Hawksby-Robinson, who lives locally. We were introduced by Vinay Gupta as he (correctly) thought we’d have lots to talk about: educational credentialing, blockchain, that sort of thing.
- Testing out my new Amazfit Bip smartwatch. I bought it from Geekbuying before Christmas and it took around three weeks to arrive from Hong Kong. It’s replacing my Sony Smartband SWR30, which I’ve written about before. I bought it because it’s supported by Gadgetbridge, but in the end I found (and paid for) a different Android app.
- Doing hill sprints in an attempt to lower my resting heart rate, as a direct result of buying the above-mentioned smartwatch…
- Continuing work around Project MoodleNet. I spoke with Martin Dougiamas, Rohan Hardie, Sander Bangma, Marina Glancy, Ryan Willie, and Gavin Henrick from Moodle HQ this week as we start thinking about resourcing the project. I also set up the Trello board and wrote a couple of posts on the project blog.
- Putting together Badge News, a regular newsletter for the Open Badges community. Issue 24 went out on Friday.
- Celebrating my daughter’s seventh birthday. She’s growing up!
- Writing:
- Principles underpinning Project MoodleNet: 2. ‘Safe’ (Project MoodleNet blog, 11th January 2018)
- Principles underpinning Project MoodleNet: 1. ‘Open’ (Project MoodleNet blog, 10th January 2018)
- Finalising the draft white paper (Project MoodleNet blog, 9th January 2018)
Next week I’m at home from Monday to Wednesday, then I’m down meeting with my We Are Open Co-op colleagues in London on Thursday and Friday. The week after I’ll be at the Bett Show on the Friday.
