		<description>hi Doug!

Your EdD sounds well interesting.
Was wondering whether you could poke around some &#039;old&#039; stuff as a bit of an anchor to the present.
eg

&quot;Nonaka and Konno (1998) defines ... “shared spaces of emerging relations”. There can be physical spaces (e.g. an office), virtual spaces (e.g. the space created by social software), mental spaces (generated by shared experiences, ideas, ideals) or different possible combinations of the above (Nonaka and Konno, 1998: 40). Such spaces are related to the dynamics of `knowledge conversion’ and are defined with the help of the Japanese concept of `ba’ - which in fact means “space” - but with a specific emphasis on the factors of interaction and knowledge creation that take place inside it.

“Knowledge is embedded in ba (in these shared spaces) where it is then acquired through one’s experience or reflections on the experiences of others. If knowledge is separated from ba, it turns into information, which can be then be communicated independently from ba. Information resides in media and networks. It is tangible. In contrast, knowledge resides in ba and is intangible.” (Nonaka and Konno, 1998: 40).

Well I quite liked their stuff actually!!

Also...if you haven&#039;t read them already...Marshall McLuhan &#039;Hot and Cool&#039; (media) and The Gutenburg Galaxy. Or anything else by him for that matter - The Global Village, The Mechanical Bride etc. Here was a guy who was pre internet but who &#039;anticipated&#039; the concept of the web I reckon. He has a lot to say about some of your ideas even though the ideas were not then invented - as a student in the 60&#039;s he was the guru of my generation.

Maybe this not where you are going but McLuhan is a good bed time read anyway.

Hope I have repayed the favour a bit! I was the one who posted the stuff on using mobile phones on the Pontydysgu website - thanks for your comment and a personal thanks for the inspiration I got from your website and blog.
Jen
